“I just want to say Alhamdulillah. I am just so blessed.”
These were the first words that Julian “J-Rock” Williams said in the ring after achieving a lifelong dream of winning the WBA and IBF junior middleweight titles earlier this year. Williams, who has overcome many adversities in his life – including homelessness at the age of 13 and watching his mother battle a drug addiction – not only won the fight against Jarrett Hurd after being doubted by many, he did so during the month of Ramadan.
“Alhamdulillah, it’s the month of Ramadan. I just wanna say Ramadan Mubarak to all the Muslims out there.”
