1. Pray for their goodness and guidance
Whenever you think about them, pray for them. Pray that they are guided to do good things that will ultimately drive them to be led to the truth. Who knows, you may see them in the mosque one day!
2. Write a letter to them if it is difficult to face them
Let’s face it, some of our family members pushed our buttons a long time ago or have done us wrong. Digging deep for the sake of Allah by at least praying for their guidance is a start. Writing a letter to them expressing where you are spiritually, how you felt at the time of affliction and how your are getting better could serve as a means for them to get better as well.
3. Visit them with an attitude of positivity
Now that you have converted, it is important that your family and friends see that this change was a change of positivity; ultimately transforming you into being a better person.
4. Send them a gift with a good message
The gift could be anonymous! Remember, these gestures are ultimately to show Allah gratitude from what he has done for you. If they were to receive a gift from you while knowing you have “changed” It can make them think twice about your newfound fatih.
5. Exercise patience
They may need time to understand you and your journey. Think of the memory that you want to leave. Most of us have that family member that is very outspoken about our change that sometimes can be heartbreaking. Patience with what they may say or do, in the long run, is the better route to take. This beautiful month is the time to seek patience with what Allah has predestined for you and to seek patience when refraining from responding or retaliating. Stay focused on your fasting and prayer.
6. Volunteering in masjid events that serve the community
This helps in getting acquainted with your brothers and sisters which opens endless doors of opportunity in being a part of the community not only in Ramadan but for months and years to come.
7. Try to pray in congregation at night
This is a huge opportunity to meet your immediate community members. Its important that we do our part in fulfilling the communal objective of getting to know our brothers and sisters in faith, especially in a month of gathering for the sake of Allah in a place of prayer.
8. Celebrate Eid with your friends and loved ones
Let’s liven this day by having a festive attitude; for this is the conclusion of the most blessed month of the year! This is a new opportunity to worship Allah via celebrating with your loved ones
