What About The Innocent Children? | The Other Side: Barzakh and Beyond Ep. 10

We’ve wept over Reem and Wadea, and were haunted by Hind’s final cries, and to the countless children who were lost among thousands of names of those martyred, we wonder how this injustice could continue.

What happens to the children whose lives were stolen before they’ve even begun?

We’ve wept over Reem and Wadea, and were haunted by Hind’s final cries, and to the countless children who were lost among thousands of names of those martyred, we wonder how this injustice could continue. While we grapple with their losses, and pray for their parents, Allah comforts us with the knowledge that they are nurtured, embraced, and waiting in a realm where injustice cannot reach them. Their names may fade from the headlines, but they will never fade from the mercy of the Most Merciful.

NOTE: All depictions of Barzakh are purely conceptual and only vocals were used in the making of the soundtrack.

  1. In fact it was so intact that the wound on his chest from the arrow was so fresh to the extent that when they moved his hand from it the blood still flowed. [Jami’ at-Tirmidhi #3340]

 Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3340

The narration in at-Tirmidhi says “He said: “As for the boy, he was buried.” He said: “It has been mentioned, that he was excavated during the time of Umar bin Al-Khattab, and his finger was at his temple, just as he had placed it when he was killed.” Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3340

Maybe, we can just put the reference in the video for the last line. The only issue is that the wound is on his head, not chest.

  1. The Prophet (SAW) said, “Every newborn is born upon pure nature. [Sahih al-Bukhari #1385; Sahih Muslim #2658]
  2. In one incident, a young teenager named Haritha (ra) was killed in the battle of badr and his mother came to the prophet and said, “O messenger of Allah, you know how much Haaritha meant to me. If he is in paradise, then I will be patient and seek the reward (from Allah), but if he is somewhere else, then you’ll see what I will do.” The Prophet SAW said, “Woe to you, Oh Umm Haritha, is it only one Jannah? There are multiple levels of Jannah, and he’s in the highest level of jannat al firdaws.”[Sahih al-Bukhari #6550]
  3. Ibn masood (Ra) said that just like the shuhadaa have the bodies of Al Tayr green birds flying through Jannah as they wish only to return to their chandeliers nestled under the throne of Allah, the bodies of the children of the believers are in the bodies of small beautiful birds also going around Jannah as they wish and returning to the throne of Allah..  [Tafsir Ibn Abi Hatim, 10:3267]

  1. Khalid ibn Ma3dan narrates: “Indeed, in Paradise, there is a tree called ‘Ṭūbā,’ whose branches are like udders, nourishing the children of the people of Paradise. [As-Suyuti, Bushra al-Ka’ib p. 67]

  1. “Ibrahim, my son, has died while still nursing, and he has two wet nurses who will complete his nursing for him in Paradise.” [Sahih Muslim #2316]

  1. The Prophet said: “Last night two people came to me and made me get up, and they said to me: ‘Let’s go.’ So I set off with them.” He mentioned things that he had seen, then he said:

“We set off, and we came to a luscious garden, in which were all the colors of spring, where there was a man who was so tall that I could hardly see his head in the sky. Around the man was the largest number of children I had ever seen.” Then among things that the two angels explained to him was: As for the tall man who was in the garden, that was Ibraaheem. As for the children who were around him, these are all the children who died in a state of fitrah.” One of the Muslims said: “O Messenger of Allah, what about the children of the disbelievers?” He said: “And even the children of the disbelievers. [Sahih al-Bukhari #7047]

  1. Ibrahim asked Allah to make all of his descendents believers, He said, ‘and my offspring oh Allah?’ Allah said My Promise is not within the reach of evil-doers.” [Qur’an, 2:124]
  2. And yes they are still children in the barzakh at the age that they died. We will see them again as such until they enter paradise with their parents inshaAllah and then everyone becomes the same age. The Prophet called them:  دَعَامِيْصُ الجَنَّةِ  [Sahih Muslim #2635] Ibn al-Atheer said: Da’aameeD is the plural of da’moos, which refers to a small creature that lives in ponds. It also refers to the one who wanders about, i.e., they go everywhere in Jannah, entering all places, and they will not be barred from any place, as children in this world are not barred from entering upon anyone because of their age and innocence (in that sense that no one has to wear hijab in front of them, and Allah will not have a hijab between them and His reward in that realm).
  3. There is a famous narration of Malik Ibn Dinar who was a drunkard and distant from Allah until he repented after seeing a dream of his deceased daughter telling him to fear Allah. In that narration, here is how he describes where he saw the children of Jannah. He says: I looked to this mountain and it was covered in silver, within which were open niches, curtains hanging upon every alley, and skylights fitted with red gold, separated by rubies, the constellation of each skylight was draped with pure silk. When I looked upon the mountain, children emerged from these niches with faces like moons. [My daughter] darted to me upon a cradle of light until she appeared before me. She reached with her left hand towards my right hand and held onto it, then she stretched forth her right hand towards the beast that was chasing me and he turned back. Then, she gave me a seat and sat upon my lap. She struck my beard with her right hand and she said, “O father, is it not time for those with faith that their hearts be humbled by the remembrance of Allah?” (Qur’an, Al Hadid, 57:16). I wept and I said, “O my daughter, all of you know the Quran too?” She said, “O father, we know it even better than you!” [at-Tawabeen by Ibn Qudama, p. 124]
  4. Abu Hassaan said: I said to Abu Hurayrah: “I lost two children. Can you narrate to me any hadeeth from the Messenger of Allah (saw) which can console me and my wife for our loss?” He said: Yes: “Their little ones are the little ones of Paradise. And When one of them meets their parents, he takes hold of his garment, or his hand, as I am taking told of the hem of your garment, and he does not let go until Allah admits him and his parents to Paradise.” [Sahih Muslim #2635]There is a famous narration of Malik Ibn Dinar who was a drunkard and distant from Allah until he repented after seeing a dream of his deceased daughter telling him to fear Allah.
