Can We Trust Hadith Literature?

Guest Author Mufti Muntasir Zaman introduces his publication, “Can We Trust Hadith Literature? Understanding the Process of Transmission and Preservation”, which answers two common questions around hadith: (1) How has Islamic civilization maintained the rich literary heritage of Ḥadīth developed by early Muslim scholars? and (2) What guarantee is there that the collections of ḥadīths in our possession have reached us accurately and that they were compiled by their purported authors?

Mufti Muntasir Zaman

Fellow | Muntasir Zaman is currently a full-time instructor at the Qalam Institute, teaching advanced Hadīth studies. He graduated from the ʿĀlimiyyah program of the Madrasah ʿArabiyyah Islāmiyyah in South Africa. He then completed the Iftā program and a course specializing in the field of Hadīth. He holds an MA in Islamic Studies from the Markfield Institute of Higher Education in Leicester, England. He writes articles, book reviews, and translations of classical Islamic literature.
