Early Sunni Movements and Jazz Musicians

While many believe that Black Sunnis only came out of a post Nation of Islam conversion, Black Sunni communities existed well before. Through the early 20th century, Sh Daoud Faisal led the Muslim Mission and the Bronx Mosque. Jazz Musicians began to embrace Islam, the Darul Islam movement took root, and the beginnings of Wali Akram and Imam Jamil Al Amin found life on these shores.
